Betty Boop ist eine Cartoon-Figur aus den Max-Fleischer-Cartoons.

Die ersten Zeichentrickfilme entstanden 1930 in der Talkartoon-Serie, einer Zeichentrickserie, die mit Musik und Songs hinterlegt worden war.

Später folgte dann eine eigene Betty-Boop-Reihe.

Wie bereits in ihrem Namen anklingend (boob engl. Busen), ist das Markenzeichen von Betty Boop ihr Sexappeal.

Mit kurzem Rock, Strumpfband und lockigem Bob verkörpert sie das Flapper-Girl der Roaring Twenties.

Typisch für diesen Frauentyp war sie sexy gekleidet, liebte es zu feiern und zu tanzen.

Betty Boop war der erste weibliche Cartoon-Charakter mit einer eigenen Sexualität.

Der Production Code zwang Betty ab 1934 dazu, ein längeres Kleid zu tragen und sich nicht mehr so sexy zu geben.

Sie wurde zu einer braven Hausfrau mit kleinem Hund Pudgy und Freund Freddy umgemodelt.

Max Fleischer versuchte durch Gastauftritte anderer beliebter Cartoonfiguren die Serie zu retten, doch das Interesse an Betty-Boop-Cartoons ließ nach der Umstellung deutlich nach.

Der letzte Betty-Boop-Cartoon wurde 1939 produziert.

In den 1960er Jahren wurden einige Betty-Boop-Cartoons koloriert und im Fernsehen der USA ausgestrahlt.

1988 hatte Betty einen Gastauftritt als schwarz-weiße Cartoonfigur im Film Falsches Spiel mit Roger Rabbit.

Max Fleischer tried to save the series by guest appearances by other popular cartoon characters, but interest in Betty Boop cartoons declined significantly after the change.

The last Betty Boop cartoon was produced in 1939.

In the 1960s, some Betty Boop cartoons were colored and broadcast on US television.

In 1988, Betty made a guest appearance as a black and white cartoon character in the movie False Game with Roger Rabbit.
